Physicists On LHC Physics

Matt Strassler has links to a panel discussion on upcoming Large Hadron Collider Physics by some of the big names in the field together with a glossary of key terms and ideas. Peter Woit provides anti-string theory/anti-SUSY commentary (with solid support from the talks) at his own blog. The bottom line, so far, from the LHC has been that there have been no Beyond the Standard Model discoveries (the Higgs boson was the last unobserved part of the Standard Model), despite a wealth of data at record high energy levels. The LHC has years to go, of course, but so far the experiment is doing a much better job at ruling out beyond the Standard Model theories that have accumulated over the last several decades than it has at supporting any of them. The possibility that this will continue to be the case for the rest of the life of the LHC looms large over the physics community.
